Fall inspirations from Boden, part one

The fall Boden catalog came the other day, and as always I flipped through for inspiration and eye candy. As always, they manage to combine wearable with interesting, although this season’s new stuff leaned more toward the former – maybe they’re being conservative given the economy. There’s still plenty of cute stuff to drool over.

I noticed a few themes, some of which were around in this summer’s stuff too. Color-blocking and multicolored trims continue to be popular, as do pin tucks, ruching, pleating, and all those folding-related things. More on those in a later post.

As always, I’m not associated with Boden (although I’ve bought some nice things from them) or any of the pattern companies I mention.

Neckline variations are easy and fun to play with, and here are some cute ones:
Hotchpotch Shirt – contrast placket; good place to use all of those coordinating quilting cottons

Layered ditsy scoop neck – print with a coordinating solid at neckline and cuffs for a layered look

Pretty gathered top – not sure how they got this exact effect, but it’s cute

Henley knitted tunic – this is (sweater) knit, but I bet you could reproduce the bib detail in a knit or woven with a seam
